What is a Co-op?
While somewhat rare in Vancouver, the Equity Co-op ownership model is common in other major cities, like Manhattan, NY. There are many positives for those owning in a co-op, however, buying and selling these properties involves some unique steps and requires a deft hand. After years of living in the West End (home to many co-ops), Krystian was mentored by a co-op giant and in time, himself became the go-to Specialist.
While similar in some ways to the strata, co-ops have different rules and a board. Down payments and lending are different and owners hold share certificates within the "Company Operated" property.
